Final Photography Project

Over the last 8 weeks we have been building up a portfolio of photographs to submit. We are now beginning our final photography project which is kind of a slide show of photographs based on a particular theme and will be combined with sound. My idea at the moment is based on "presence". I am taking pictures of an old house which has been left to my dad after his uncle died 25 years ago, the house hasnt been lived in since although many items are still in the house, preserved almost. I want to portray in my pictures is that even though the house has been abandoned for a quarter of a decade this was someones home and which they lived and ultimately died in.

Tiny Turtle

So this semester we have been put into groups to create an exhibition. After weeks of talking about dinosaurs and drawing pictures of JLS we had to get serious and thats when Tiny Turtle was created. Tiny Turtle is our brand name and our idea is to create simple childrens toys (which they can make themselves) out of something recycleable for example a yogurt pot or plastic bottle. This inititive has been set up hopefully to encourage children to recycle while having fun. I started off with creating a few characters.

This was just a little robot i created, not sure what his name is or which face i like better!

Belfast Pen Design

For our summer project we were asked to design a pen based on the spirit and culture of belfast. Walking to and from university everyday I noticed the beautiful art deco buildings for example the Bank of Ireland building. My idea was to create the design based on the features and shapes of the art deco buildings. I started out by photographing the buildings.

I then took elements from the buildings i liked and tried to recreate them in an abstract way.
